Reflections for Day 2 Orientation

23 comments:

  1. Today, I learned how to be patient with my classmates/friends when doing the activities. One time, I was guiding my blindfolded classmate through the Mine Field obstacle course, but somehow he could not hear me or did not follow what I told him correctly. I became frustrated, but when I tried picturing myself in his shoes, I thought that it would be difficult to not be able to use my eyes, listen to and correctly follow my friend's instructions, filtering out all others who are shouting to be heard over others, trying to avoid the obstacles and somehow make it to the end. Therefore I just patiently guided my friend through the obstacle course, no matter how many times I had to redirect him or restart the obstacle course, while trying to keep my cool, knowing that he is depending on me to guide him and that losing my patience will not do anything to get him to the end.

All in all, this was a tiring yet rewarding day. I now look forward to my last day of Orientation and my future days in SST.

  3. I think that the minefield is difficult as the person blindfolded might not hear me and i will get a little frustrated but after i put myself in his shoes , i might also not hear the person giving me directions. For the high elements, i felt very excited and was eager to walk on the tightrope to cross the "obstacle" .The egg drop is a very challenging activity as we have to keep the egg safe and not let it crack after it fell from four storeys high.I really enjoyed all the activities today . I would like to thank the PSL for letting me put my valuables in their bag and for sharing the snacks.

  4. Day 1 :Today we had to learn all our classmates name. Then we got to see a few of the places in school.i learned that we should cordinate with each other ,follow all instructions and respect our psl's while they are speaking

  5. Day 2:Today I mainly learned about trust as in the blind fold game we had to trust our partners and in the high elements we had to trust our classmates since they would save us if we feel. In the egg game I realised that we needed to have more cordination since only a few people where doing the task while the others could not help.

Today I learnt that teamwork and perseverance is important in the games today as in "Minefield",perseverance is needed as the one who is blindfolded needs to listen to his partner in order to move, but sometimes is distracted by the other people who might be trying to communicate to their partner. So,perseverance is needed to succeed in the mission. As for the "High Elements",teamwork is needed as the people who might be trying to complete the course needs the people who are belaying so that if he falls,he will not fall straight to the ground.

  8. The second day of the orientation was more exciting that the first day as we get to do something different from the first day especially the high elements activity. At the first half of my day in SST I got to try games that I didn't play before. I can fell the efforts of the PSL trying to tell help us get used to the rules of SST and to get us to behave well. From today, I learnt that the most important thing is not having fun or enjoy yourselves but instead our friends ,the values and of course their lives too.I have lots of fun today, Thks everyone!

  9. Day 2 of the orientation camp was much more fun than Day 1.Although our behaviour for Day 2 was much worse than Day 1, i felt that in the end, everyone went back with the words of what the PSLs told us.From Day 2,i learnt the meaning of Team Spirit.Cheering our classmates on and on would encourage them even more,to persevere and strive to their personal goals.I would want to thank the teachers and PSLs for their time that they spent on us for the orientation camp.

Every time I attend orientation I always seem to learn something new and on the second day I learnt about team spirit , why we have to respect others and ourselves. When we were doing the high elements I should have cheered my classmates more even though I did not know their names. While I was doing high elements I learnt about courage and how it will be able to help me through the obstacles, it taught me to be more confident about myself and my decisions as I am a quite indecisive. I think that the activities held on the second day where very interesting and fun like the high elements and the blindfold game. I am very grateful to the school for reminding me about respect and teamwork and I'm looking forward to the third day.

  11. On the second day of orientation,I learned that we should trust our classmates and be helpful to each other because if a particular person wants to go up to high elements but he or she could not go up without be layers so we really have to be helpful because everyone wants to have a go on the high elements right.

The second day of the orientation was fun as I learnt how to trust my classmates as they were the ones holding on to the rope for me, ensuring I do not fall. I also learnt that we should take life one step at a time and there will always be people like our classmates and teachers to help us along the way. Like when we were on the rope course and we had to walk one step at a time to stable ourselves while there are others who are belying us and ensuring that we do not fall down. I also want to thank the PSLs and teachers for organising this activity for us. I definitely had lots of fun!

For Second Day: We played Egg Drop, Minefield, Whack'O and High Elements. Even though we were all tired, we also helped pulled others. I have learnt that all of us have to have faith and trust in your friends. Especially when we are up there, climbing, we have to trust our friends who are downstairs pulling us. We should have more respect as we didn't thank the instructors there and our PSLs... So, THANK YOU teachers, instructors and of course our PSLs, not to forget my classmates! Hope that we will be more respectful on the last day of Orientation. And I love to get to know my classmates better!

Although it is a tiring and sweaty day, I had a lot of fun in the high elements and the activities we did in school today. What i have learned today that Safety, concentration, trust, team sprit are very important values. We should also believe in ourselves so that we have the courage and support from our friends to overcome difficulties together. I wish to thank all my teachers, instructors, PSLs and of course, my dear friends. I really look forward to the last day of our orientation together.

  16. The 2nd day of orientation gave me a strong sense of trust in my classmates. During the high elements as I climbed up the ladder I felt that you guys were looking out for me cheering me on and ready to catch me should I fall (which I did). Also I really felt that I was part of the class as I belayed for my classmates. I can't wait for orientation day 3! May our bonds grow ever stronger!

The second day of orientation was long and tiring and fun.I have gotten to know my classmates' names better and played activities that requires teamwork, such as the blind fold game and the high element obstacle course that i did with my friend. Through all the activities i did today, i learnt that team work is important as it helps me to complete tasks easier and faster.I am looking forward to the activities that the psl's had planned for the class on the last day of orientation.

For the 2nd day,i really enjoyed myself at High elements.I managed to overcome my fear of shakiness at a height (sort of) ,Because my friends kept on cheering me on.If not,i would have been stuck at one place for a very long time and would take ages to complete the course. Now I know how important team spirit is.Can't wait for the last day of orientation!

The second day of the orientation, the activity i enjoy the most was the high element course. I managed to overcome my greatest fear with the support of my friends. The activities planned by the PSL were fun and engaging, though it's tiring, i truly believe that my friends enjoyed it too. I have learn that teamwork is important as it gets the job faster and completing the job will be more easier. I also realised that trust also play an important role in completing every activity planned in the orientation. I look forward to the activity on the third day of the orientation. I truly thank the PLS for their effort and my classmate and teaches.

  20. During the second day of orientation, we played many different games to help us bond better and learn to discuss in groups. The activity i most enjoyed was the high elements course. We walked across wires and broken bridges that were set high in the air. We were taught how to belay to ensure the safety of the one that was doing the course. Although they were on the ground the belayers played an important role in keeping our friends safe. Others who were not belaying cheered them on. It was an exciting experience that i would not mind trying again.

I felt that in the second day of orientation team work is the most important as when we were playing blindfold , the people bing blindfold is needed to listen to his/her team mate , I felt that the eggdrop will result in the egg not breaking if we use everyones idea and at last the high elements as without the belayer and the supporter our life will be in danger, e.g. if there's lesser belayer when K.S. and Yen Zhe is falling their life would be in danger.I also learnt that we must be more respectful to others that we need to thank the belayer and supporter for helping.

  22. On the second day of Orientation we played many Ice Breaker games to help us bond as a class although some of the games we tried but failed,we had fun.During the game called minefield, we had to put faith and trust in our friends to help us guide through the so called minefield,My favourite of course was the high elements.During the debriefing I felt guilty about not thanking the belayers and supporters because without them I wouldnt be alive so thank you.and thank you all for supporting me.Thank you

I think what we needed teamwork for the High Elements games as if those people pulling the rope had not been doing so, we would have fallen and gotten seriously hurt or even die. We also have to communicate well, example, in the case we are falling, we have to warn the people pulling the rope to strengthen their grip. We should also be more respectful to others and to have manners, we should thank others when they helped us, no matter whatever they did.
